After two very "successful excursions" to the Fabric Market having lots
of business shirts done. I decided to go back again, this time, for
some pants and a suit. Not too long ago, I recommended three visitors to Shanghai try the Fabric Market instead of MaoMing Road. The female visitors, had a blast there of course, spending the whole day bargaining, getting suits, cashmere coats and others tailored for a fraction of what they would have spent in MaoMing Road.
Not wanting to any necessary risk, I opted for familiarity and decided to patronise the same tailor I visited before. On reaching his stall, he remembered me immediately (I think because I tailored so many shirts the last time round).
We immediately got to business and I of course, pressed him for a good discount. He looked around making sure no other customers around before typing the best price he can give on his calculator.
I felt the price was reasonable given the quality of his work. We agreed on the price. RMB520 for a business suit, 250RM for an additional pair of pants.
I collected the suit 3 days later. The workmanship and attention to details is as good as those much more expensive ones I made before.
Another successful raid at the Fabric Market. Next target...maybe a cashmere coat!
PS: Stall details at this link if you need it.
