Two Fantastic Dining Events This Week

Chef Colagreco recently earned the 28^th spot in San Pellegrino’s list of the 50 best restaurants worldwide, for his restaurant Mirazur, in Menton, France.From June 13-15th, Chef Colagreco himself will be in town in Shanghai, and there will be two special dining events held at Unico/Colagreco.

Recently Unico won the "Best bar of the year" and "Best cocktail bar of the year" awards from City Weekend Reader's Choice Awards 2013, and Colagreco won "Best Mediterranean." Colagreco also won "Best Restaurant 2013" from Esquire Awards.

Absolutely my favourite drink.

Lighting for Food

I went to this unkown restauranr near Momoko's workplace together with Regine.

The food was just so so but I discovered an interesting concept deployed by the restuarant.

The restuarant actually has spotlights fitted above the dining tables. Just like how photographers use lighting to to make the subject look better, this resturant uses the spotlights to make the food look much more delectable though it might not be.

 

Kung Fu Fast Food (Part 2)

I first wrote about Kungfu Fast Food a few years back.

While window shopping with Regine at Supermall in Pudong, we felt hungry (probably due to the cold weather),  she suggested going in for a meal. I agreed of course.

This is my favourite fast food chain in China as the food they serve is healthier as they are all steamed and it felt like a home cooked meal most of the time.

I ordered the steamed eggs and lean ribs set meal as usual :).

Ya Kun is now in Shanghai !

Being Singaporean, one of the few things that gets me back to the Singaporean mode, after being away for extended periods of time from the country, is Teh.

Teh is simply milk tea, Singapore style. It is also one of the definitive drinks of Singapore food culture. Coupled with kaya (coconut jam) toast, and two runny eggs, that makes an everyday Singaporean breakfast.

Ya Kun is one of my favourite outlets in Singapore that serves Teh and kaya toast. I am glad when Regine sent me an sms to tell me that Ya Kun has opened an outlet in Shanghai!

Cool Docks

Have you been to Cool Docks yet ?

Cool Docks is one of the more recent venue carved to inject even more vibrancy and night life to the already saturated entertainment scene in Shanghai.

The name Cool Docks is a misnomer, for the Chinese name is actually "老码头“, which translates into the term, "old pier". Said to be oldest pier, even before the very renowned, The Bund, Cool Docks is about twenty minutes walk from  Nanjing East Road.

Cafe Spotting : Wagas

A friend of me recommended me to this one. Though there are many branches in Shanghai, I have not tried it before. Its actually quite cosy. I like it ! The pasta is strongly recommended too.

One of My Favourite Cafe at Jin Hui Road

Walking past Jin Hui Road, I realised that one of my favourite cafe in Shanghai has changed name. From "Dio Cafe" to "LTC Coffee".

 Anyone been there before?

Vietnamese Food in Shanghai (Part 2)

Shanghai is one of the eat and drink captital of the world. There is no lack of good restaurants, eateries or cafes in this metropolis.

Indian food? Turkish food ? In a Chinese city? Sure. No problem. Lots of them here.

Much as I like good Pho, one of my favourite Vietnamese dish is the vermicelli with roast chicken. Any Vietnamese restaurant worth its salt is sure to have this dish. Try it if you haven't!
