Lighting up the Bund (Part 1)

These spectacular streaks of light you see at the Bund add glamour and color to the night scene in Shanghai.

Ever wonder what powers those  lights ? And where is the originating point?

The Colours of Shanghai

It's been either cloudy or  raining  for a few days. The colour of Shanghai during the day is gray - especially at dusk before all the lights on the buildings are turned on. From my window the whole Bund area and Pudong look like a dead city at  dusk - gray and gostly. That always reminds me of an evil city on a remote planet and it is doomed...in some new age movie.

However as soon as all the lights are turned on, the whole view totally changes. The  Bund area and Pudong looks so modern and luxurious and full of livelihood.  My favorite night street is still Huaihai middle road - it often reminds me of the old Shanghai in the movies - mysterious and modern! Sometimes I would feel like walking in the movie In The Mood For Love  with the beautiful cello playing in the background.
