Hooray! The circus is in town !
World renowned Cirque du Soleil made its debut in Shanghai on Thursday.
By skillfully combining elements of performance arts, theater, music and traditional circus acts into one exquisite and artful production, Cirque has reinvented themselves from a small rag tag team based in Quebec to one of the world's most captivating performance production.
Their trademark blue-and-yellow, Grand Chapiteau has been erected across the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in Pudong. The massive tentage is able to house some 2500 spectators at a go.
With more than 20 themes in their repertoire, the circus would be performing Quidam right here in Shanghai, which is about a sad little girl's escapade in her imaginary world of Quidam. Saltimbanco and Alegria are the other 2 themes I am familiar with. Compared to the other two, I think Quidam wins out due to its storyline.
If you would only watch one circus performance in your life, trust me,this is the one.
Tickets prices: 150 RMB to 2000 RMB.
Show runs from June 28th until August 26th 2007
