When it comes to being the most expensive city in mainland China, it has always been a case of a tussle between Shanghai and Beijing. This year, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Shanghai takes the "honours" again. There are some surprises in the rankings too.
This is the ranking from EIU on the most expensive cities in China.
1) Shanghai
2) Shenzhen
3) Dalian
4) Beijing
5) Guangzhou
There you go, I am surpised that Dalian actually surpassed Beijing!
On an overall scale, as expected, Tokyo remains the most expensive city in the world.

I thought it would be a good idea to share what camera gear I use. I use a Canon EOS500D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens and EF 50mm f/1.8II.

I thought Beijing is also the most expensive city to live in China. That's okay, actually. My favorite city is Chengdu, it's very laidback and yet very competitive at the same time. - Marl from http://www.tutorsville.net/subjects.php
