Regine and I had earlier planned to meet at Raffles Square near Fuzhou Road before proceeding to a restaurant nearby to have some Shanghaiese food for dinner. I was having the cravings for Xiao Long Bao (Small Dumpling) too ! She knows of a great place nearby.
Unfortunately, I arrived late for our appointment. According to her, the place would have been packed by the time we walked there and we would need to probably queue for quite some time to get a table. We decided to abort the idea of having Shanghaiese food for dinner that night and proceeded to just look around Raffles Square for a not so crowded restaurant.
We found one on the 5th level. It was a hot pot restaurant called Wu Mi Zhou Hot Pot. As it was a cold night, there was no debate spent in agreeing that we would patronise that restaurant.
The differentiator between their hot pot and the rest of the mainstream ones is in the soup base. In this restaurant, you can order their proprietary congeee based soup.
After waiting for 15 mins, we got a table and soon ordered a table full of ingredients and food for the hot pot. It was a hearty meal in a cold night. Needless to say, we ate more than we should.
The food and atmosphere was good but wasnt exceptional. One special item worth special mentioning is also their proprietary meat balls. Its hard to describe the taste but all I can say it was very delicious after letting it simmer in the hot pot (see pic below).
If you are ever down town on a Friday and needed a place for a nice and reasonably priced hot pot meal without too much waiting time. Do give this place a try.

I thought it would be a good idea to share what camera gear I use. I use a Canon EOS500D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens and EF 50mm f/1.8II.
