Brad sent me this article on the Chinese authorities' attempt in cleaning up the internet cafe culture in China.
Personally, I find this move is hardly surprising. If you have been to one of these cafes before, you would know why.
Dark, smoky and most of the time, very poorly ventilated, it is easy to see scores of teenagers spending more than 10 hours there each day playing games and watching online movies, some even overnight. To them, instant noodles and tidbits sold at these cafes are substitution for proper meals. Schooling is really something really secondary.
Some extreme cases I read before in the media:
-Parents kneeling down in from of the internet cafe begging their son to go home. He had been spent 48 hours there earlier.
-Kids turning to stealing to pay for access to internet cafes
-A man in Beijing died after playing 30 hours of games.
Hmm..its little wonder I am finding fewer of these in town whenever I need internet access.

I thought it would be a good idea to share what camera gear I use. I use a Canon EOS500D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens and EF 50mm f/1.8II.

"Dark, smoky and most of the time, very poorly ventilated, it is easy to see scores of teenagers spending more than 10 hours there each day playing games and watching online movies, some even overnight." That's true. I use to go to the Internet cafes when I didn't have my own pc. It is very necessary to clean up the internet cafe culture in China.
