Well, today we booked our flights to China. We are flying QANTAS into Shanghai on 27th September 2005.
We scored well using my QANTAS Frequent Flyer points, so all we have to do is pay around $200 each in tax. It worked out to be 74,000 points for each of us, and I have well over 150,000 points - so its a FREE return trip for us! How good is that!
For me as a foreigner, I have to have proof of an onward journey from China to be allowed to into the country. So I had to get a return flight. The longest time frame QANTAS could give me on those flights was almost a year, so I had to book a return flight for 9th July 2006. We can change our ticket at anytime, but it will cost 2,500 points each.
Sabrina is really excited now that we have a firm date - so the pressure is on to get all the loose ends tied up here, and then make sure that we have all our projects planned so we can hit the ground running and find the right contacts we need when we get to Shanghai.
My next major challenge is to sort out my Visa for China and then to get a job. Sabrina is ok because she is on her Chinese passport and has Australian residency, so she doesn't need Visas either way - which is the exact opposite of when we went to Europe. Me travelling on my Australian and UK passports (I have dual citizenship) could get into any country without a Visa - but Sabrina needed one for every country. She is laughing at me now, happy that the tables have turned! :)

I thought it would be a good idea to share what camera gear I use. I use a Canon EOS500D with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom lens and EF 50mm f/1.8II.
